At least 12 people were killed overnight following looting and violence in Venezuela’s capital amid a spiraling political crisis, authorities said Friday. Most of the deaths took place in El Valle, a working class neighborhood near Caracas’ biggest military base, where opposition leaders say a group of people were hit with an electrical current while trying to loot a bakery protected by an electric fence.
MEETOTAMULLA, Sri Lanka (AP) — Rescuers on Monday were digging through heaps of mud and trash that collapsed onto a clutch of homes near a garbage dump outside Sri Lanka’s capital, killing at least 30 people and possibly burying dozens more.

Bubble artist Deni Yang performed his Mega Bubblefest Laser Show Thursday at the Discovery Cube Science Center in Santa Ana, California. Deni, the son of famed bubble master Fan Yang, has followed in his father’s footsteps and travels the world performing his bubble shows. His family holds the world record for largest soap bubble, measuring 167 feet long, that was created in Beijing, China in 2009.
