Marking the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, about 1,500 volunteers spent all day walking around the hills outside downtown Sharpsburg to put a common goal into action. After measuring grids to line each row, over 23,000 luminarias were placed in remembrance of the bloodiest single day in U.S. history. There were two crashes during the stage, one involving race-favorite Alberto Contador, who finished the stage with superficial injuries.

IMILCHIL, Morocco (AP) — Deep in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, the ancient Berbers live on, defying a harsh environment and loyal to their traditions and way of life in some of the most hard-to-reach parts of the African continent.

Indomitable and proud, they call themselves the Amazigh, which is believed to mean “free people” or “noble men,” and trace their origins as an indigenous people in western North Africa to at least 10,000 B.C.

Each election season, the name Super Tuesday is given to the day that Democrats and Republicans hold the most primaries or caucuses and, in return, the most delegates are up for grabs on either side.

This year, it’s March 1. The first Super Tuesday was in 1984, and in years past it’s been a chance to see how a candidate performs on a more nationwide than regional scale.
