For those of us who’ve had “Under the Sea” from Disney’s Little Mermaid stuck in our heads since the 80s, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade beckons like the siren song stolen by Ursula. This year, as they have for the past 33 years – part-time mermaids and a few mermen donned their finest wigs, pasties and fins and took to the boardwalk for a parade celebrating the underwater myth of the mermaid.
