The San Francisco Giants reign over baseball yet again, after ace Madison Bumgarner emerged from the bullpen to throw five shutout innings and third baseman Pablo Sandoval collected three hits in a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. The Giants became the first road team to win Game 7 since the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates.

But shortly after the game a man was shot in the Mission District, at 21st and Valencia streets, said San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.

Some people started bonfires with debris in the Mission District, Shyy said. Most of the flames were extinguished by firefighters and police officers.

Officers in riot gear were deployed in the Mission District as crowds took to the streets. After officers moved people out of the Mission District, fans moved to 24th Street and started dancing. – Tribune and wire reports
