Here is a series of photo compilations from a baseball game between two Howard County teams: Atholton and Mt. Hebron on Thursday, April 24. Each image was made in Photoshop using three images taken fractions of a second apart. [More on how I did this below.]
The photos were shot using a Nikon D3s camera body and 300mm f/4 lens. The 3s is capable of shooting about 9 images per second, which is a spectacular advantage in sports photography. To create the compilations, I overlapped the three selected images in Photoshop and aligned them according to elements in the background (fences, grass lines, trees, etc.), and lowered the opacity of the second image to about 50 percent and the third image to about 30 percent.
