Braving the frigid waters to kick off Maryland Polar Bear Plunge
The Super Plunge event Friday kicks off the Polar Bear Plunge weekend, and includes plunges for law enforcement and corporate participants, all of whom dash from the shore and into the water. Some entered and immediately retreated; others remained in for a somewhat extended dip. On Friday, 41 “Super Plungers” including Special Olympian Joe Wu, of Rockville, plunge into the ice cold Cheaspeake Bay water every hour for 24 hours.
