Hurricane Sandy: Then and now

Almost a year has passed since Hurricane Sandy made landfall, and while some areas have recovered well, progress across several eastern states leaves much to be desired for some.

What began as a tropical Oct. 22, 2012 turned into one of the most destructive hurricanes ever to hit the United States. The storm struck the East Coast on Oct. 29, claiming as many as 125 and causing at least a reported $65 billion worth of damage.

Victims of the storm say insurance woes and red tape are doing just as much damage as the storm, and several who are still living in city-paid housing in hotels are facing eviction.
