Nice photos, but you’re kidding about #10, right? There’s no tread depth to measure on slick racing tires- that’s a pyrometer, and it’s used to measure the tire’s temperature!

That is a Curtis Racing C-6 AccuTread digital tread depth gage

Ah, no, it’s not. There’s no tread depth to measure on slicks, but tire temperature is critical, and that’s what’s being checked.

Ah, yes it is. And even slicks have depth to measure. There is only so much rubber.

The GP of Baltimore looked exactly like a shameful, 2nd rate demolition derby on Saturday and Sunday. This is not what motorsports’ followers would call ‘world class racing’…but rather a poor attempt by the City of B and the Andretti organization to put on a ALMS /IndyCar street race without having the proper funds for annual resurfacing/repairing of a heavily commuter and interstate commerce used Pratt Street (race course). Continuing to use a ‘Mickey Mouse” chicane to slow the race cars down before going over light rail tracks is also lame. With the City’s ‘pot hole’ and no funds available mentality…the safety of the drivers appeared to be in jeopardy for most of the IndyCar event along with some very poor IndyCar officiating on Sunday.

Baltimore did itself proud on hosting the Grand Prix! This is my third year attending and it’s gotten better every year. Not real happy to hear a blasted college football game will bounce the race cars out of labor Day weekend. Everyone my husband and I came in contact with were so very helpful, friendly and excited we were there! It was a fabulous weekend!
