Celebrating Opening Day with the Orioles fans of Instagram
Notice a little more orange in your Instagram feed lately? If you were following these folks, it never would have stopped. From the playoff run last October, to the road opener on Tuesday, Orioles supporters from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, even from New England, have been sharing slices of their fandom, which, appropriately enough, often involves slices of Orioles-themed cake. In this special Instagrammer Feature, meet some of the Orioles fans of Instagram.

- O-CCESSORIZE: Tami Levin of York, Pa. (tamibl69), and her yellow lab Chloe show off their Orioles orange. A Baltimore native, Tami says that, despite moving around to several states, she’s stayed an Orioles fan ever since cheering along with Wild Bill Hagy in Section 34 at Memorial Stadium as a little girl. - “CHEERS!” TO CHEERS: Tom Haller (developthethom) posted this for #tbt (Throwback Thursday) early in Spring Training to show he was “getting pumped” to return to the stands. Last year, the Orioles superfan helped create a video salute to the Camden Yards experience set to a new version of “Orioles Magic.” Uploaded to Instagram Feb. 21
- ORANGE YOU GLAD BASEBALL IS BACK? Alissa Enders (alissaenders) of White Marsh greeted the new season with a fruit pun (our favorite kind), captioning this photo, “Orange you glad it’s Opening Day? Let’s go O’s!” Uploaded to Instagram April 2
- PLAYOFFS! Nate Walker (nateewalker) and his girlfriend Kara Windsor were so excited when the Orioles clinched a playoff berth last season they made a sign and celebrated in Walker’s Hampstead backyard. Walker posted the photo on Opening Day, a Tuesday, for what he dubbed “#thrO’sback,” a play on popular Instagram tags for “Throwback Thursday” and “Flashback Friday.” Uploaded to Instagram April 2
- OREO MAGIC: The only thing more impressive than this homemade vanilla and chocolate layered Orioles Oreo cake is that it was made in Red Sox Country. Kayla Sweet of Salem, Mass. (kaylasweet91), says her boyfriend, Michael Giammarco, from Rhode Island, is a lifelong Orioles fan and got her into baseball and the Birds, so much so she’s even made flash cards to learn the franchise’s history. “I’m an artist (with a huge sweet tooth) and decided to create a beautiful cake featuring the Orioles – for Michael,” she says. - BIRD-BLAZONED BANNER: An Orioles flag flies from the Kooper’s Chowhound Burger Wagon outside The Rotunda in Hampden. Lifelong Baltimore resident Greg Freedman of Mt. Washington (riseoftherealjewbilly) says “My Orioles fandom goes way back… Until the Ravens came to town, baseball is all I knew.” Uploaded to Instagram March 22

- JJ AND AJ: Getting closer Jim Johnson’s and center fielder Adam Jones’ autographs was among the highlights of Towson University junior Stephanie Green’s (_stephgreen_) Spring Break trip to Spring Training. Channeling a mantra on team T-shirts created by Jones, the Monkton resident says, “I’m ready for the Cinderella story to continue!” Uploaded to Instagram March 21
- GREAT WEDDING CAKE TOPPER, OR GREATEST WEDDING CAKE TOPPER? John Jung (jjungy14) shared this snap from a very Baltimore wedding. The cake is by the Baltimore Cakery in Fells Point. Uploaded to Instagram Oct. 14
- START YOUR ENGINES: Liam Enders of White Marsh, photographed by his mother Alissa (alissaenders), poses at an Orioles Rally at The Avenue at White Marsh the day before Opening Day. Uploaded to Instagram April 2
