Flooding and mudslides in central Colombia have killed at least 11 people, the Red Cross said Wednesday, causing alarm in a country still recovering from mudslides that killed hundreds.
More than 50,000 people have been displaced by flood water in the region of Piura in northern Peru and hundreds of houses have been flooded. Many local residents are being taken to shelters set up by the government, while others refuse to leave their land and prefer to stay on high ground in their communities.

Missouri and other areas along the Mississippi river are facing major flooding events after intense rainfall and rising river levels. At least 20 people have been killed, and 19 levees along the river are still vulnerable.
