Lower Manhattan showered the U.S. women’s soccer team with confetti and a parade to celebrate their World Cup victory. It’s the first ticker-tape parade there to honor a women’s sports team. The last parade honored the New York Giants for their Super Bowl victory in 2012. The crowd was between 500,000 and 1 million.
2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup
The U.S. defeated Germany 2-0 in the semi-final match of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Montreal Tuesday. They will play for the title Sunday.
The U.S. beat Colombia 2-0 Monday in the round of 16 in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. They now advance to the quarterfinals.
