DENVER (Reuters) – Forecasters are expecting warmer than normal temperatures and gusty winds Tuesday in the Colorado area already ravaged by wildfires, CNN reports. Tuesday’s forecast by the National Weather Service is similar to the forecast on Monday, a day that brought blazing heat and winds that whipped up the blaze.
Eight more homes were lost in the wildfire that is the state’s most destructive on record and which continued to rage dangerously close to a residential subdivision as winds stoked the flames, fire officials said on Monday.
The number of homes destroyed in the so-called High Park Fire raging 15 miles northwest of Fort Collins now stands at 189, said John Schulz, spokesman for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.it.
